Dulcepamba Watershed Project

This project is lead by Rachel Conrad who has been working tirelessly in the community of Chillanes, Ecuador to help farmers keep their land as they have become the targets of a hydroelectric company. Her project has reached a crucial point as they have received a precedence judgement in the court system for multiple cases against the hydro-electric company to go in favor of the community and farmers. To take advantage of this momentum, Semillas de Estrella has partnered up with the project to gather donations for a year long, once a month agricultural course. This course is led by Red de Guardianes de Semillas which provides the community of Chillanes with extensive knowledge and connections to the rest of Ecuador. We are excited by the potential of developing a strong relationship within this community as they could become a focal point for what can be done through seed saving and strong, sound environmentally coherent practices.
