Rio Muchacho and Semillas de Estrella have developed the first Okra trials on the coast of Ecuador (and we believe them to also be the first within the entire country of Ecuador). Okra is an amazingly robust crop that has shown to be very promising throughout 2019. Okra is a staple crop to most Middle-Eastern and Indian families and Ecuador has seen an increase in these particular demographics within the metropolitan areas. Semillas de Estrella believes there is a large potential to educate and teach small scale and indigenous farmers how to grow okra so that they can supplement the local demand.
